Hello to those of you who stuck around in my absence.

Just popping by to let you know this blog isn’t abandoned or dead.

I moved and started a full time job and I’m still unpacking and figuring out school for next year so I’ve been pretty busy.

However I’ll be crocheting in the next week to finish up some projects, and I could use some new ideas/patterns if you have any you really like.

I have two hats to make for people, but that’s the only yarn I’ll have available for the next two weeks :(

Moving out in T minus 9 days.

I’m at home with exactly 1 crochet hook and 3 colors of yarn.

I did what I could.

If you’d like a pattern I could probably whip one up tomorrow, just let me know.

Knit-In of the Day: The “Snatchel Project” from Government Free VJJ takes a creative approach toward combating the GOP’s ongoing War on Women (or WOW — as in: Wow, are you really waging a war on women?) by inviting knitters and crocheters alike to knit or crochet a vagina or uterus, and mail the result to their male Senator or Congressional Representatives.
Their message: “If they have their own, they can leave ours alone!”
Patterns are available on the group’s site; hand-delivery of the “gifts” is forthcoming. If you don’t know how to knit or crochet, no worries: There’s a how-to section on the site.

onalea asked: Have you done any hats with post stitches? Thoughts?

I’ve done a few projects with post stitches. I like to use alternating front and back post stitches to make the edges of hats with ridges.

Overall I’m not a fan of using it because I generally crochet without actually looking at my project, and the post stitch requires I look at it while I work, hah.

My Dr Hoo hat uses post stitches to make the texture a little more interesting than flat double crochet.

I’ve enabled submissions

If you make a hat using one of my patterns, I’d love to see the outcome!

onalea asked: If the pattern for the black hat is available, I'd love to try it out!

I was using Simply Soft 4 ply yarn and a size H 8/5.00 hook.

I used a magic circle and put 18 single crochet in the middle and cinched it up.

I increased by putting two single crochet in each stitch around to make 36 stitches.

Increase again by putting two single crochet in each stitch around to make a total of 72 stitches.

Then I used single crochet all the way around for about 33 rows.

I used a double crochet thermal stitch for the edge, but two rows of double crochet and one last line of single crochet should do fine.

It’s easier just to write out sentences for me, but I can write it out as an actual pattern if this confuses you at all. :)

If anyone makes this, feel free to send me pictures of the final project!

I made this hat a few days ago. The pattern is super simple, so let me know if you want it!

Hellooo. I have leftover yarn from my sock monkey hats, but not enough to make a full hat. I’d be willing to buy more and make you one, if you’d like.

They’re $20 plus shipping, which is pretty cheap, let’s be honest. I’ve seen others going for $30 and $40.

Just let me know here if you’d like one, and we’ll do business ;)

I know I’ve pretty much just been promoting myself for the last few days, but these are the only items in my Etsy shop at the moment, and the listings expire early in February. They’re all made and ready to ship, so if you want them, hurry up!

My newest hat :) Ribbed and just a little slouchy. It’s also super freaking soft.

I usually put up the patterns I used as I post my projects, but it seems I forgot this one! I used this pattern from Teresa Richardson. You can adjust your hat length when you first start out, depending on how long you’d like it to be.

Anonymous asked: will you be having another giveaway? i was really hoping to win the eeyore and sadly did not. it was adorably cute

I may be doing one sometime in the future. It probably won’t be another Eeyore, but I would like to do another giveaway. :)
